Revolutionizing Emergency Response

Ruxum’s Society-Enabled System for Senior Citizen Societies in India

The population of senior citizens in India is rapidly increasing, with projections indicating that the number of people aged 60 years and older will reach 340 million by 2050. As people age, they often require specialized care and support, which can be difficult to provide when they are living alone. Senior citizen societies are supposed to provide a safe and secure living environment for elderly people who are living alone. However, these societies are not without their challenges.

Problem Statement

Elderly people living alone in senior citizen societies are vulnerable to accidents and medical emergencies, and in the absence of timely care and support, these situations can quickly become fatal. For example, a cardiac arrest requires medical response within an hour. But traditional emergency response systems are often limited to a single point of contact, such as a neighbour or a security guard, who may be occupied at the time and unable to provide timely help. Seniors, having seen this problem, have expressed the need to notify each other when they encounter an emergency so that they can count on the help from each other – “One for all and all for one”.

Ruxum, with its innovative Society-enabled system, is designed specifically for senior citizen societies. The system allows up to 25 Ruxum users to download the Ruxum app, sign in, and pair their device with their accounts using a special 10-digit code assigned to the society, known as that society’s Ruxshak code. In the event of an emergency with one Ruxum user, a panic alert is sent to everyone using the society’s Ruxshak code. This system leverages the power of the whole community to help in the event of an emergency.

The Ruxum Society-enabled system offers several benefits for senior citizen societies and their residents. The system allows for a wider network of care and support for the elderly, reaching up to 25 Ruxshaks at a time. With 25 Ruxshaks, it is easier to find at least one Ruxshak that is available, providing a guaranteed response. The response time is faster than having just one point of contact, as someone in the society that is closer and available will respond, ensuring timely care and support. The peace of mind that comes with knowing that help is always within reach is priceless.

The Ruxum Society-enabled system is being implemented in senior citizen societies across India and is already showing promising outcomes. According to a survey conducted by Ruxum, 85% of users reported feeling safer and more secure since implementing the system. Additionally, response times have significantly decreased, with an average response time of less than 10 minutes reported by users. Experts in the field of geriatric care have also praised the system, with Dr. [TBD], a renowned geriatric specialist, stating that “the Ruxum Society-enabled system is a game-changer for senior citizen societies, providing a much-needed solution for emergency response and care.”

Anil Gaikwad, a resident of Padmavillas society, has been using the Ruxum system for the past two months. He says, "Before Ruxum, I always worried about what would happen to me if I had a medical emergency. But now, I feel much more secure knowing that there are 25 people in my society who can respond if I need help. Ruxum has given me peace of mind, and I'm grateful for it."

Overall, the Ruxum Society-enabled system has the potential to make a significant impact on the lives of elderly people living alone in senior citizen societies by providing them with the security and peace of mind they deserve.
